Privacy policy
Effective 21 October 2026
JisrOne is a free mosque directory and community platform run by Marks Global LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, please contact us.
The short version
- You can find mosques and prayer times without an account.
- Your location is used to find mosques near you. We look up what is nearby and do not store your location on our servers.
- We never sell your information and we do not show adverts.
- We never handle donations to mosques. Money goes directly from you to the mosque you choose. If you choose to support JisrOne itself, the payment is handled by a payment company, and we never see your card or bank details.
- You can download your information or delete your account at any time from your Dashboard.
1. What we collect
If you just browse. No account is needed. Your device remembers your settings, your last search area and which mosques you have checked, using your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device. Our hosting providers keep short-lived technical logs, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the service running and secure.
Your location. When you tap "Use my location", your browser asks for permission. Your location is used on your device to find nearby mosques and to work out prayer times. To find mosques, pages, events and appeals near you, the app sends your approximate position to JisrOne's database, which looks up what is nearby and sends the results back. The map pictures come from map-tile services, which see the area you are viewing. If you search for a place by name, the words you type are sent to place-search services. We do not save your location on our servers.
If you create an account. Your email address, a password (stored only in scrambled form by our database provider), and anything you choose to add to your profile: display name, city, profile photo, phone number a short "about you", a status line, a cover photo, whether you are a brother or a sister (optional, used for "Br." or "Sr." before your name), and your privacy choices.
What you add or send. Prayer times and facilities you add or confirm; mosques you register or claim, with the contact details you give; posts, comments and reflections; photos you add to a mosque's gallery; events you create or join; Business Circle posts and the contact details you choose to share; directory listings; requests for counseling or classes and the notes and contact details you include; forms such as volunteering or "Contact us"; mosques you subscribe to; and newsletter sign-ups. Posts you write on your profile and who can see each one; Halal places, schools, scholarships (and the application forms you attach) and start-up groups you list, the groups you join with what you offer, and ideas you share in them; da'wah trips you organise or sign up for, with the phone number and note you give, which only the trip's organiser sees (and the organiser's number, which only those going see); class, job and prayer-space requests; and the people you connect with and the short messages you send them.
Pages, mosque registrations and appeals. If you create a page for a business, service, school or organisation, everything on it is public, including the contact details you add. For home-visit services we show only the area, never a street address. If you register a mosque so people can appeal for it, you give us the name and phone number of a contact at the mosque, with their agreement; the JisrOne team uses it only to confirm the mosque, and does not publish it. If you make an appeal, its details are public, and the phone number you add for helpers is shown only to signed-in members.
Notices you upload. If you upload a scholarship or opportunity notice in Students Corner, the file is stored under a random name and our assistant reads it to prepare the listing. Once approved, the notice is shown with the listing so students can read the original. Please upload public notices only. Timetable photos you send for a mosque are read the same way, and the times are added to that mosque as your update.
Notifications. If you turn on notifications on a device, we store the address your browser gives us for sending them (it does not identify you on its own), your choices, your quiet hours and your time zone, so alerts arrive at the right time. In the Android and iPhone apps, the address comes from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (and, on iPhone, Apple's notification service). Turn them off on that device, or in Dashboard → Notifications, at any time.
Volunteers and JisrOne Ambassadors. If you apply to be an Ambassador, we keep your name, phone number, the town and areas you help in, how far you can help, and anything you write about yourself. Only the JisrOne team sees these. Your town is used to send you help requests from masjids nearby; it is never shown publicly. If you ask an Ambassador for help, we keep your name, phone number and request. The Ambassador it is sent to sees your first name and request, and sees your name and number only after accepting it; you then see the Ambassador's name and number. If no Ambassador can help, the JisrOne team sees your request.
Two-factor sign-in. If you turn on sign-in codes, our database provider keeps a secret key that matches your authenticator app. We never see your codes.
Supporting JisrOne. If you make a supporter payment, it is processed by Stripe or PayPal (or Razorpay in India) on their own secure page. They share with us your name, email, the amount and the payment status, so we can send receipts and handle refunds. We never receive your card or bank details.
2. Why we use it
- To run the service: show mosques, prayer times and community features, and keep your account working.
- To let people connect when they ask to, for example passing a counseling request to the counsellor you chose, or sharing contact details when both people tap "I'm interested".
- To send you only what you asked for: password-reset emails, reminders and updates you switched on, and newsletters you subscribed to.
- To keep the community safe: checking new listings and photos, and acting on reports of scams or abuse.
- To understand demand in a general way, for example how many people in an area are asking for a class, without identifying anyone.
We rely on your consent (which you can withdraw at any time) and on what is needed to provide the service you asked for.
3. Who can see what
- Everyone: mosques, prayer times and facilities, mosque wall posts and reflections, approved photos, events, approved counsellor and class listings, directory listings, and the display name shown with anything you post.
- Only you and the JisrOne team: your email, phone number and preferences, and the details you send in forms, except details a form says will be shown publicly, such as a mosque's official phone number or email.
- Other members: your profile (photo, cover photo, name, status, city, mosque, bio, skills and the counts of what you have contributed), only to the people you choose under "Who can see my profile", minus anything you choose to hide. Each post you write is shown only to the audience you pick for it, and you can change or delete it at any time. Your phone number is shown only to a connection you choose with "Share my number", and you can stop sharing it at any time. Prayer space listings show the area, never the exact address, until you accept a request.
- A mosque's admins: the email you gave when subscribing to that mosque's newsletter, and the number of people who follow the mosque (not who they are). If you tick "Let this mosque's admins see my name", they also see your display name, never your email or phone.
- The person you contact: a counseling or class request goes only to the counsellor or teacher you chose. Business Circle contact details are shared only when both people agree.
4. Services that help us run JisrOne
We use trusted providers to host and run the service. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database, accounts, photos and files (on Amazon Web Services servers in the United States). Daily backups are kept by the same provider.
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and its address, jisrone.com.
- Esri (map pictures), OpenStreetMap / Overpass (mosque map data), and Photon by Komoot and OpenStreetMap Nominatim (place search).
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: deliver the fonts and program files the site needs.
- Google Maps or WhatsApp: only when you tap "Directions" or choose to share.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service: deliver notifications to the Android and iPhone apps, when you turn them on.
- Stripe, PayPal and Razorpay: process supporter payments, only if you make one.
Because some of these providers are outside your country, your information may be processed in other countries, including the United States. We choose providers that protect data and we share only what is needed.
Where your information is kept, and who can open it
Everything you add is kept in one secure database and file store run by Supabase, in the United States. The website itself is delivered from Cloudflare's servers around the world, but holds no personal information. Inside the database, access rules decide what each person can see: members see only what this policy allows above. Only a small number of people at Marks Global can open personal information directly, only to run the service, answer your requests, or deal with reports and legal duties. As JisrOne grows we may move to larger servers or add servers in other regions; we will update this policy if your information moves to another country.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information until you delete your account. When you delete it, your profile, posts, photos, requests, subscriptions and other personal content are deleted. Community records that others rely on, such as a prayer time you corrected or a mosque admin history entry, are kept without your name. Newsletter subscriptions end as soon as you unsubscribe. Forms sent without an account are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
6. Your choices and rights
- See and download your information: Dashboard → Edit profile → Your data.
- Correct it: edit your profile at any time.
- Delete your account and your personal content: Dashboard → Edit profile → Your data.
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it, or untick the boxes under "Keep me updated".
- Mosque walls are moderated by each mosque's admins, who can hide posts or comments and block members from their wall. The JisrOne team can review any decision.
- Withdraw permission for your location in your browser's settings at any time.
- Ask a question or make a complaint by contacting us (below). Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
7. Children
Anyone can use JisrOne without an account. To create an account you must be 18 or older. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use secure connections (HTTPS), access rules in our database so that people can only see what they are allowed to see, and passwords that are never stored in readable form. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use elsewhere.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell signed-in members on the site before it takes effect.
10. Contact us
For privacy questions, requests or complaints, and for our Grievance Officer (under India's Information Technology Rules), email [email protected] with "Privacy" in the subject, or use our contact form. We aim to reply within 30 days.
